Design Team Spotlight: Kristin

Kristin is our Design Team Coordinator at MyScrapChick . She schedules the project posts on facebook, answers questions for the DT and keeps things running smooth. Her passion for paper crafting and photography is evident in her own projects. Kristin also helps us with the majority of our recent designs by putting the new projects together and then taking the product photos for the site.

We asked her a few questions about her paper crafting and we know you'll find her answers helpful and interesting. Plus she is sharing photos of her 5 favorite MyScrapChick products and what she likes best about each one of them.

POUR BOX

"So simple to put together and can be decorated in so many ways!"

Kristin's Blog

What are your go-to paper crafting products
that you can't live without?

For me, adhesive is the most important. I have tried many different tapes and glues and my most favorite is Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive. It dries quickly, but also gives you just enough time to move the card stock just where you need it and holds together great. My next favorite item(s) are all my ink pads (I use Stampin' Up brand) that I use to ink the edges of my paper piecings along with my finger daubers. I love my white Gelly Roll pen too, for highlights!

DISPENSER BOX

"Another simple and great design to add your own personal touch to match the occasion."See on Kristin's Blog

What type of cutting machine do you use?I use both the Silhouette Cameo and the Sizzix Eclips. I love them both, but if I had to pick a favorite, I would choose the Eclips for cutting and the Cameo for the software program.

PICNIC BASKET & SANDWICH

"So adorable and a cute design."
You really MUST see these posts on
Kristin's Blog!!!!

What are you 2 top favorite types of projects?
My most favorite project(s) to create are cards and any 3D type item, but I love little gift boxes especially.

Describe your style.

I really don't have a particular style, I just make whatever comes to mind or what I need for a specific occasion. My projects are usually fun and simple and not too fancy.

Design Team Spotlight - Julie

Julie is our featured Designer today.

We asked each of our Design Team members questions about their paper crafting. Julie really opened up and shared some great info. It's so nice to have an opportunity to know the paper artist behind the blog. Enjoy reading more about Julie...

What are your go-to paper crafting products that you can't live without?
First – go-to paper crafting products that I can’t live without.  Hmm.  My my.  Where to start.  I have an overflowing craft room.  Well, maybe an overflowing craft basement and I can’t live without any of it, so really this list is looooong:   I need at least a million sheets of 12x12 paper ‘cause you never know what color, pattern, texture you’ll need for any given project and the closest LSS is 50 miles away.  I need the same number of 6x6 pads for cards and paper piecing.  I need my Silhouette, of course.  I can’t design without it – and everything that goes with that – mats, blades, scraper, vinyl, glitter, sticky backed paper, etc.  I need sharp, pointy scissors, a few different choices of glue, glue dots, Gloss Accents, ribbon – lots and lots of ribbon;  twine – twine in every color, button, rhinestones, pop dots, enamel dots, stamps – hundreds of stamps (probably thousands, but who’s counting), embossing powder, heat gun, spray inks, water color paints, gesso, Copic markers.  Geez. I could go on all day, and this is just the first question! But I better move on to question #2.

What type of cutting machine do you use?
I began my journey into electronic cutters with a Cricut, then a Cricut Expression2, then a Cricut Imagine, but my absolute favorite-haven’t-looked-back-since is my Silhouette Cameo.  I hardly touch my Cricuts anymore.  Anyone want to buy about 100 Cricut cartridges?

What are your favorite types of projects?
My favorite types of projects – I make lots of cards, but with my Silhouette, I think I prefer 3D projects.  I love it when I make something and people say, “you made this out of paper?”  I know I was successful when I hear that!

Trio of Bunnies

Describe your style.
I always have trouble with this question.  I guess I’d say “matchy, matchy”.  I like to use patterned papers, but like them to match.  I like things to blend.  And, I think my style can be eclectic.  But, visit my blog and judge for yourself!

Other favorite designs of Julie's
Butterfly Easel Card – I was first attracted to My Scrap Chick for their wonderful easel card designs, and they are still some of my favorites.
Sundae Easel Card – this is just turns out so darn cute!
Santa’s Sleigh – I tried many different SVG sleigh files until I finally found one I liked. This one is my absolute all-time favorite.

Design Team Spotlight - Cheryl

Cheryl is our featured Designer today.

Cheryl has been crafting up some bright and colorful projects for MyScrapChick. Take a look at this "small" sample below.

We asked each of our Design Team members questions about their paper crafting. We'll be sharing Cheryl's answers to those questions in this post along with her 5 favorite cutting files from MyScrapChick and why she likes them.

POPSICLE TIME
"I love the carrot box!!! When I saw that released I about flipped a gasket!
What's not to love about that box!"

DANCING CANDLES
"I love the Dancing Candles because you can give them a ton of different looks, perfect for all the birthday cards I make. They are just adorable!"

See all the photos on

What type of cutting machine do you use?
"I use two electronic cutting machines. One is the Sizzix Eclips, the other is a Silhouette Cameo. I love them both for different reasons. I LOVE that the Eclips gives the ability to change fold lines to score instead of cut. I hate seeing those tiny cut marks! I LOVE my Cameo for print/cut. It is spot on all the time, I just love that because I choose to use digital papers instead of buying up lots of paper pads and then have to worry about storing them!"

CARROT BOX
"I love the carrot box!!! When I saw that released I about flipped a gasket!
What's not to love about that box!"

See all the photos on

What are you 2 top favorite types of projects?
It seems my fave things to make have got to be cards! I love them, send a lot of them, and it's generally a pretty quick project. I, must say that I also LOVE 3D, but I find it difficult to store them. And I don't usually get to use 3D nearly like I do cards. I do like feeling like a paper carpenter, though, lol!

DOOR HANGERS
"I'd  also pick the Door Hangers. I just think it's really fun for any kid or adult to have a special something hanging on their door for a birthday or to celebrate any holiday. Their own little party on a door.......

See all the photos on

SWEET NUGGET BOX on a Door Hanger
".......And you can adhere a small matchbox to the front of the Door Hanger and fill it with some goodies. So easy to customize."

"For loving to make cards, I chose mostly 3D, lol! I guess I chose these cause they are something I would fill and give as gifts, if it's not real practical for giving, I don't tend to just make 3D to sit around. My craft space is full enough!"
